Privacy Policy
Folklore Skies is a weather app. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we run no servers: we never receive any information about you or how you use the app.
What the app uses, and where it goes
Your location (optional). If you allow it ("While Using the App"), the app reads your approximate location (to about a kilometre) to show the weather where you are. You can decline and search for a place instead. The coordinates of your chosen place (current or searched) are:
- sent to Apple Weather (WeatherKit) to get the forecast;
- sent to Apple's geocoding service to find the place's name and time zone;
- stored on your device only, in the app's settings, so the app opens on the same place next time.
Place search. What you type into the place search is sent to Apple Maps (MapKit) to suggest places. The last few places you picked from search (name and coordinates) are kept as a Recent list on your device only; you can delete them one by one or clear the list in Settings. "Current Location" is never added.
The latest forecast is kept on your device so the app opens quickly and can show it when you are offline.
Motion. The painted scene tilts slightly as you tilt your phone. Motion readings are used on the device for that effect only; they are never stored or sent anywhere.
Settings (theme, units, display mode) are stored on your device only.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.
Apple's handling of the requests above is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. The app contains no third-party code that collects data, and we do not sell, share or receive any personal data.
Deleting your data
Everything the app keeps is on your device. Deleting the app deletes it. You can turn off location access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Folklore Skies.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
